Public Toilets in Kirkcudbright
The failure of Dumfries and Galloway Council to identify funding to repair Kirkcudbight’s ailing public toilets has recently caused considerable dismay among local elected representatives. For nearly a year now the Gents and the Disabled toilets have been closed due to structural failure. The Ladies toilets remained open but, apparently because of vandalism, have also recently closed.
The toilets in the Town Hall have been made available during the daytime, however there used to be laminated signs directing people to the Town Hall but these have gone and have not been replaced. We are therefore left with 1 portaloo and 1 disabled portaloo at the Harbour Square. The situation has been identified as wholly unsatisfactory, and urgent action need to be taken to give much better toilet provision before the easter holidays.
The next meeting of Kirkcudbright Community Council will take place at 7pm on Wednesday 10th March in the Council Chamber in the Town Hall. Attending will be Mr David Allan, Head of Neighbourhood Services, DGFirst, D&G Council, who will be indicating the course of action required to get the toilets back into operation again.
Community Council meetings are open to the public and everyone is welcome to attend.
